Medieval Town. 25x25cm. 2020

From time to time I repeat some of my works. I am curious to see if their will be a difference between my previous work and now. This time around, I worked on the same picture of medieval Constantinople that I did five years ago.

This woodcut is from the Nuremberg Chronicles - one of the first printed books, created in 1493.
The original woodcut is seen below.
My work tools: paintbrush and needle. With the paintbrush, I place the glass powder paste and with the needle I straighten and sharpen the lines. The story about the technique is here.

To see how the work came to be, you can watch the slideshow here.

The side-by-side comparison between my current piece (left) and the previous piece (right) is below.
You can see the rest of my medieval towns here.

Medieval Cities.

These fused glass works are re-creations from the Nuremberg chronicle illustrations. This is one of the first printed books made in the year 1493. It has numerous beautiful illustrations of European medieval towns and cities.

I made another one as a decorative plate giving it a practical use.
